Early Years Foundation Stage

At Eden Park Nursery, our curriculum is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, established by the Department for Education (DfE).

This framework is reflected in our daily practices, ensuring children engage in a variety of thoughtfully planned, enriching play experiences. We strive to help every child reach their full potential while allowing them to progress at their own pace. Each child’s development is closely monitored and supported to foster growth and confidence.

Working with parents

Building strong relationships with parents is a cornerstone of our success and plays a vital role in your child’s well-being, development, and progress during their time at Eden Park Nursery.

We prioritize open, two-way communication, with staff available at drop-off times to discuss any important information or concerns. Our team is also happy to address your queries at any time. Additionally, you can contact the office via email for updates or to discuss any aspect of your child’s care.

Extra Activities

At Eden Park Nursery, we are delighted to offer a variety of extra activities at no additional cost to parents! We aim to provide Babyballet lessons, as well as opportunities for children to participate in Sing and Sign, Pro-Stars, and other classes.

We also host exciting experiences throughout the year, including visits from farms and animals. Our children have the joy of meeting ponies, reptiles, owls, and even chickens!

Sing & Sign

We are delighted to offer Sing and Sign at Eden Park Nursery, an engaging and enjoyable program designed to support communication skills and boost children’s self-esteem.

Our practitioners use songs to teach key signs, making the experience both educational and fun for young children. Sing and Sign is incorporated throughout the nursery, enriching the children’s daily routines and interactions.

We'll also host regular Sing and Sign parent workshops, where you can learn some of the key signs we use with the children. This allows you to continue supporting your child’s development at home.

Babyballet

We are thrilled to hopefully be the only nursery in Leeds to offer Baby Ballet classes on a weekly basis!

Baby Ballet is an award-winning and engaging pre-school dance program designed for both boys and girls.

These delightful dance classes provide babies, toddlers, and young children with the opportunity to enjoy the physical and social benefits of ballet, song, and dance in a safe, nurturing, and positive environment.

With a strong emphasis on learning through play, the unique Baby Ballet syllabus is structured into four key stages. Through these stages, children can build confidence, enhance social skills, and develop key qualities such as manners, discipline, and respect. At the same time, they gain foundational ballet techniques, improve coordination, balance, posture, musicality, and rhythm.

Pro Stars

At Eden Park Nursery, we are excited to offer weekly fun and games sessions, specially designed for our young learners.

We'll introduces children to P.E. and games through engaging and enjoyable activities tailored to their age and abilities.

These sessions provide numerous benefits, helping children develop essential physical skills such as spatial awareness, coordination, and gross motor abilities—key aspects of their physical development.

Beyond physical growth, participating in sports and games also fosters confidence, self-esteem, and social skills, encouraging children to build relationships and work together.

We believe that promoting physical activity from an early age not only supports children’s health but also helps them understand how their bodies work and the importance of staying active.

Phonics

Phonics is an effective method of teaching reading by associating sounds with letters.

At Eden Park Nursery, we support our Pre-School children in developing strong listening skills as a foundation before introducing them to letter sounds.

Before learning to read, children need to:

  • Recognize and say the sound represented by each letter.
  • Blend sounds together to form words, such as C-A-T or D-O-G.

To keep this process simple and engaging, we focus on teaching the initial set of sounds using the Read Write Inc. Phonics program. This well-regarded scheme is widely used by local schools that our children will go on to attend, ensuring a smooth transition to their next stage of learning.

French

Our mission is to secure a French Teacher for sessions for our Pre-Schoolers!

During the sessions we'll aim to:

  • Explore a wide range of topics and ideas to keep them entertained from week to week
  • Aim for each child to understand and memorise new vocabulary
  • Learn exciting stories, action songs, and through fun activities
  • Familiarise their ears to the sounds of the French language

Our objective is to provide a fun and positive experience and to put in place foundations for their future learning
of French and/or other languages.

Home Reading Library

We have a large variety of children’s reading books for you to borrow and share at home to motivate and encourage every child to read for pleasure. Due to high demand we can only issue one book per week.

Our books are for children of all ages. We have picture books, books with few words and books for sharing.

Through hearing stories children are exposed to a wide range of words. This helps them to build their own vocabulary and improve their understanding.

Reading is a life skill which enriches young children’s imagination and needs to be nurtured so that books can be used to develop a love and pleasure of reading.

App Log

At Eden Park Nursery, we utilise an app Log, an innovative system for tracking and recording each child’s progress.

This fantastic program allows us to share regular updates, including photos and insights into your child’s development, directly with parents. Additionally, we aim to keep you informed about your child’s activities and needs throughout their time at nursery.

Parents can also contribute by sharing their child’s milestones and achievements at home. This enables you to upload photos, videos, and comments, fostering a collaborative approach between you and your child’s key worker.
