At Eden Park Nursery, our priority is to support you as parents and ensure your child's happiness and well-being. We understand how significant your little one’s early years are in shaping their future, which is why we are dedicated to providing exceptional care in a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment.

We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where your child can thrive, explore, and grow at their own pace, building confidence and a love for learning along the way.

This page is filled with valuable information about our nursery, including our approach to childcare, learning, and development. However, if you have any questions or require further assistance, we encourage you to reach out. Our approachable and knowledgeable team is always here to provide guidance, answer your queries, and ensure your experience with us is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

At Eden Park Nursery, we are more than just a childcare provider – we’re a supportive partner in your child’s early education journey.

Menu

Initially, we request all parents to provide pack lunches. We will announce when we transition over to in-house lunches.

At Eden Park Nursery, we take great pride in providing freshly prepared, nutritious meals for the children in our care. Our Head Chef will craft every dish on-site from scratch each day, using only the finest, high-quality ingredients. Our menus will be thoughtfully designed to rotate weekly and adhere to all relevant nutritional guidelines, ensuring every child receives balanced and healthy meals. We'll also cater to a variety of dietary needs and allergy requirements eg halal food

We aim to earn an Advanced Accreditation from the Early Years Alliance Nutrition Support Programme, recognising our dedication to promoting healthy eating for children. Our evaluation highlights that “nutrition and healthy eating are at the heart of Eden Park Nursery,” and our “excellent approach to supporting children with special dietary requirements” it of paramount importance.

Children will be served meals from our main menu unless they have a medically diagnosed allergy or intolerance, are vegetarian or pescatarian, or follow a specific diet for religious reasons. Unfortunately, other parental or child preferences cannot be accommodated, as they may impact the nutritional value of the meals provided.

For additional support, we'll reach out to nutritionists to answer any questions, including advice on common challenges such as fussy eating. At Eden Park Nursery, we are committed to ensuring every child enjoys healthy, delicious meals that support their growth and well-being.

Millie's Mark

Eden Park Nursery shall be aiming to achieve the Millie’s Mark accreditation, a recognition awarded to nurseries that go above and beyond in ensuring the safety and well-being of children. This achievement highlights our unwavering commitment to keeping children safe, with every member of our team fully trained in Paediatric First Aid.

Key Worker

At Eden Park Nursery, we implement a Key Worker System designed to foster strong and secure attachments between children and our dedicated staff members. This system helps create a nurturing and supportive environment for your child.

When your child joins Eden Park Nursery, we actively encourage them to form meaningful relationships with our team and select their own Key Worker. This special bond helps your child settle into nursery life with ease, boosting their confidence to engage in daily activities. The Key Worker acts as a bridge between home and nursery, ensuring a seamless continuity of care.

Your child’s Key Worker will focus on meeting their individual care needs, offering you peace of mind while your little one explores, learns, and plays in a safe and supportive environment. Activities and learning experiences will be carefully planned to suit your child’s unique needs and developmental stage.

The Key Worker will keep a report on your child’s activities and progress and will always be available to address any questions or concerns you may have. They will also meet with you during Parents’ Evenings to discuss your child’s development and plan their next steps.

We strive to maintain consistency by keeping the same Key Worker with your child as long as possible. However, as your child grows and transitions to a new room, their Key Worker may change, and we will keep you fully informed throughout the process. If you have a preference for a specific Key Worker, we will do our utmost to accommodate your request.

At Eden Park Nursery, our goal is to provide a supportive, personalized experience that helps your child thrive.

Weaning

Weaning is an exciting milestone that marks your little one’s transition from a milk-only diet to the inclusion of solid foods.

At Eden Park Nursery, although we take on children from 12 months - we begin introducing weaning menus — with your consent — when your baby reaches around 6 months of age. During this stage, we offer a delightful variety of fruits, vegetables, and starchy foods alongside their usual breast milk or formula. By around 7 months, your child will start enjoying a modified version of our standard menu. Most other children will have already been weaned and be eating solid foods when they start at Eden Park Nursery.

If your child follows a vegetarian diet, avoids specific foods for religious reasons, or has known allergies, please inform us, and we will tailor the weaning menu to meet their individual needs.

To support their development, we also introduce sipping cups to encourage water drinking and provide spoons to help babies explore and practice independent eating.

For additional guidance, our friendly staff are always available to discuss the weaning process with you. We also recommend obtaining valuable insights from a nutritionist.

Let us support you and your baby during this important and rewarding journey!

When Your Child Turns Two

When your child turns 2 years of age they will move to a different room.

Although we understand it can be a big change for your child, it is an exciting time with lots of new opportunities! The team will work closely with you to support you and your child to make the move as smooth as possible.

What we will do to help
A couple of weeks before your child turns 2 years of age we will begin the process of moving to the new rooms.

  • Your child will spend short sessions in the new rooms before they move permanently to enable your child to feel comfortable in their new surroundings.
  • Your child’s current Key Worker will liaise with their new Room Leader and will pass on all developmental and care information, and complete a transition form.
  • We will inform you of the outcome of your child’s trial sessions and ensure you are introduced to your child’s new Key Worker, once they have formed attachments in their new room.
  • If your child requires any additional support, or there is a delay in making a permanent move, this will be discussed with you and your child’s current Key Worker.

What can you do to help?
Our main ethos is to work together to help your child reach their full potential.

You can help support us to work together by updating us with observations from home, reading our news bulletins (which explains what fun things we will be learning about!) and meeting termly to discuss your child’s progress.

Your child looks to you for encouragement and direction, try to talk to your child positively about the ground floor and let them know they’re going to have a wonderful time – and they will!

You can ease your child’s nerves by bringing along your child’s favourite comfort item, whether it’s a blanket, a teddy bear, a book or a little note from you.

Please do not hesitate to talk to us if you have any further questions.

Toilet Training

When your child is ready to toilet train we support you and help you and your child have great success in this area.

In the nursery all the toilets are small and easily accessible. Below are some signs to help you recognise if your child is ready to toilet train.

Signs of readiness for Potty Training

  • Urinates a fair amount each time.
  • Can pull up and down pants.
  • Shows interest in others toilet habits.
  • Desires independence.
  • Can communicate when wet or soiled.
  • Tries to remove own nappy when soiled.
  • Might be dry at night.

Preparing for Potty Training

  • Choosing a suitable potty which your child likes.
  • Read stories surrounding using the potty to sit on.
  • Choose some underwear.
  • Make a decision when to start.
  • Create a reward chart with your child to reward them for their efforts.
  • Get a fabric bag to carry around when you first begin potty training containing:
  • 3x knickers, socks and bottoms.
  • Baby wipes
  • Nappy sacks

Ready to start Toilet Training

  • Make sure your child wears easily removable clothes.
  • Remove the nappy in the morning and make a point of going straight to the potty and try to go.
  • Ask your child at regular intervals to use their potty.

Toilet Accidents

  • Try not to get upset if your child has an accident.
  • Ask them to sit on the potty to ensure they have finished.
  • Reaffirm “It’s ok! But we use the potty now!”.
  • Ask them to help you change their clothes and get re- dressed.

Hooray! Successful use of the potty!

  • Lots of praise and encouragement
  • Encourage the rest of the family to support them and give them praise on their success!
Starting School

At Eden Park Nursery, we are committed to supporting and preparing children for the exciting transition to school. By working closely with parents and local schools, we aim to make this change as smooth as possible.

We focus on nurturing children’s personal, social, and emotional development by encouraging friendships and helping them communicate their needs effectively. These early experiences are vital for building confidence and self-esteem, laying a strong foundation for starting school.

During the Upper Pre-School year, we place an emphasis on early education. We help children recognize and write their names and introduce a fun and engaging phonics program during circle time. Additionally, our planned activities are designed to promote school readiness in an enjoyable way.

At Eden Park, we encourage independence by helping children develop practical skills. They hang their coats on their pegs, self-register upon arrival, complete independent tasks like "funky finger" activities, prepare their own snacks, tidy up, and even set the table for lunch. These small steps foster confidence and independence, easing their transition to school life.

As the school start date approaches, we liaise with local schools and invite teachers to visit the nursery to meet the children. We also prepare a detailed transition report highlighting your child’s accomplishments to share with their new school.

Collaboration with parents is a key part of our approach. We host a "Transitioning to School" workshop where parents can voice concerns and receive valuable tips and ideas to support their child’s journey.

Before our children leave Eden Park Nursery, we'll celebrate their time with us by hosting a memorable graduation ceremony. Parents, Key Workers, and children come together to mark this special milestone as they prepare for their exciting new adventure at school.
